Roz Evans is the author of the The Beast Makers YA Fantasy series. She lives in Montana with far too many animals and even more books, and is a fan of all things wild. When not scribbling about fantastical beasts, she loves building things (which usually stay upright) and getting lost in nearby forests, all while drinking too much coffee.

Hi there!

I love reading books as much as I love writing them; recent favorites are The Murderbot Diaries, Annette Marie’s Demonized series, and anything written by Ilona Andrews. I live in a tiny house on a big mountain in Montana. My favorite season is winter, when there’s nothing to do but write beside the wood stove while blizzards rage outside. In 2019 I spent a month in Thailand, where I got SCUBA certified and spent an hour swimming alongside a sea turtle. It was basically the highlight of my life. (The ocean is SO! COOL! We do not have oceans in Montana. Alas.)

I am currently happily at work revising the sequel to The Centaur Wars, The Mermaid Lie.

Birthday: 12 December, 1988

Favorite Color: Red

Favorite Book Series of All Time: (ACK THIS IS SUCH A HARD QUESTION, IT MUST BE ANSWERED IN THREE PARTS.) In childhood: Animorphs, by KA Applegate. Such a great series. Epic premise. Incredible characters. Hilarious dialogue. Heartbreaking stakes. The best species of villains I’ve ever read. (Yeerks!) In teenager-hood: Harry Potter. In adulthood: The Psy-Changeling Series, by Nalini Singh.

Spirit Animal: This is a tough question. Probably a bear. I like food, I like to wander around the woods alone, I’m grumpy when interrupted, and am reliably amiable if left unbothered. Also, berries and meat are two primary food groups. I love berries. Love.

Favorite food: Blackberries.
